Here’s another Proteus animated model, this time an analog gauge meter, that you can easily use with Arduino or any other analog output sensors. I’m sure you’ll like this Proteus model library. In many of our projects, we often need a visual output for signals like temperature, pressure, or other analog signals. That’s why we use devices like meter gauges or graphs to display these. I created this interactive analog gauge meter library specifically for this purpose.

Analog Gauge Meter Models.

This model library includes two types of meter models. One is a needle-based meter with colored segments, which has three pins: one for the data signal and two for the power supply. The second model is based solely on colored segments, without the needle. It has four pins—three are the same as the first model, and the extra pin, called the ‘mode’ pin, controls the display animation of this model.

How to Use it.

The gauge meter is an analog-controlled model that usually expects a real analog voltage input to control the brightness of the segments or the display level. When you connect a potentiometer to the meter’s signal pin, you’re providing a variable analog voltage based on the potentiometer’s position. As you turn the potentiometer knob, it smoothly changes the voltage, and the meter can interpret this to adjust the segment outputs accordingly.

However, if you connect an Arduino PWM pin to the meter’s signal pin, it sends a rapidly changing signal that the meter can’t interpret correctly. As a result, it may not work as expected, and the segment outputs might not behave as intended.

To convert a PWM signal into a real DC (Direct Current) value, you can use a low-pass filter. You can check out my LED-meter model guide for more details on how to do this.
